It's great having a sister with a compatible, cultural sensistivity and sensibility to mine. It's great just having a sister of course. But Alison. in addition to all her other great gfts has always pushed, wonderful films, books and music my way. Elliott Smith, Sufjan. Harold & Maud. We've shared and marvelled at much together down the years.
A couple of months ago she mentioned she'd been at enjoyed a Kassi Valazza gig so naturally I tracked Kassi down with undue haste.
Latest album Kassi Valazza Knows Nothing does various things. Some of which you'dd expect of it. Conventional Dolly, Tammy, Loretta and Crystal C & W fare. Well written songs with weeping steel pedal and familiar tales of woe that you come to expect of this stuff.
Elswehere Kassi spreads her wings and flies into the territory the likes of Waylon and Gram mapped out for the genre in the Seventies, closer to the heartlands of Rock & Roll. Good work Al. Sterling work.I like this a lot.
