Dense Blazing Star from Gainesville, Florida and their latest record Shield. It apears to have a black labrador on the cover chewing a bone in a back garden.
It's one of thise albums you appreciatemost of all. The ones you change upon with absolutle no preconceptions about whatsover and then find you can't stop playing.
I must say the record doesn't sound particularly like a Dazing Black Star but it is remarkably affecting and touching nonetheless. Also great support if support is what you're after. .
With a singer who appears to be in a permanent dream condition and a band providing, resoloute, steadfast support. For some reason only known to myself a vision of a band of knights trotting through a medieval forest on a summers day came to mind.
There is something very morish about this record. I realised this the longer it played yesterday the longer I am doing so as it does so again. Dense Blazing Star have a definite melamcholy gift. Unwrap it for yourself this Christmas.
