On a difficult, turbulent day I found this song at the closing credits of a Mad Men episode rather soothing. This was Number 1 in The States for a remarkable five weeks in 1968. Some quite odd chord changes.
My dad had loads of Paul Mauriat albums when I was a kid. Played them all the time. I remember "Love is Blue" very well. Reminds me of Sundays, the smell of roast dinner, and my dad's turntable set to "infinity," which meant that the album of choice that day would just keep playing over and over and over again until my mum screamed at him to turn it off. Happy days.

ReplyDeleteCool! Don't know him at all Rod. First really entered my consciousness with that Mad Men moment.
