Song(s) of the Day # 3,833 Combat

Combat Rock ! Geddit !!! Youth clearly isn't going out of fashion any moment just yet. Baltimore's Combat come racing out of the traps like The Libertines on fizzy lemonade on debut album Stay Golden.

These are High School locker corridor concerns. Songs called Put Me In Coach and Topic Sentences. Hormonal but well dispositioned teenage Punks amd you're made aware within thirty seconds of their temperament, range, intentions and limitations.

Nevertheless Stay Golden stays interesting and  I listened right the way through yesterday afternoon Combat are clearly very good at what they do and have more than enough hooks and energy to stay the half hour obstacle course.

Frankly they're hard to knock. They'll need to work on their repertoire and write some songs with  broader palate and emotional tug next. But The Districts, Green Day, Broncho and even The Replacements kicked off wuth similarly narrow horizons and potential. They might be worth keeping an eye on.
