Song(s) of the Day # 3,639 Topographies

It's only with time that you realise quite how far beyond the word influential Robert Smith and The Cure are . Goth Uncles. Godheads.

'Ooh Mummy. I'm lost in a Forest. All alone...' They intoned. Or words to that effect. In 1979. The world changed In a small but tangible way.

According to their Spotify bio San Francisco's band Topographies 'meshes 90s shoegaze with the urgency and mechanical rhythms of Post Punk'

I'd cut to the quick lads. Listening to their latest album Interior Spring I'd just say 'We really, really like The Cure and Robert Smith. Let's face it. Faith is as good as it gets,,, 'It's a more honest approach. This is a perfectly OK record. But I think I'll listen to Faith or Seventeen Seconds next time. This record is just slightly too close for comfort.
