I was pleased to see this posted on social media yesterday and enjoyed both the song and the accompanying video. It's been a while with Vampire Weekend. They've taken some time to absorb and fully process the loss of a key founding member Rostam Batmanglij. But they might have done so judging by this.
Rostam left the Vampire fold in 2016 and for a while it seemed as if he might have taken the special colour that they'd invented with him. Not so, Capricorn first song from the forthcoming album, due in April is promising indeed.
Lustening to this and thinking about it reminded me of why Robert Forster of all people, (and let's face it, he's someone who would know) took to Vampire Weekend from the off. Robert marked them as ones to watch immediately and he was right to do so. This is one of the very best things I've heard this year. It concerns itself with moon landings. And why not, concern yourself with wonder. We are alive after all.
