500 Greatest Albums of the 1980s ... Ranked! # 469 Lush - Scar

In the Spring of 1990 as I finlly approached the end of my degree course, I went with my good mate Andy to see an intriguing 4AD double bill at the Arts Centre in Norwich. Lush were playing with Pale Saints.

It was a very memorable and exciting evening and I've been fond of both bands since. I went out and bought the records they were touring in support of. Lush's Scar still sounded beautiful, brittle but nursing a quiet defiance. Pre-Raphaelite, Independent wonder.
