Favourite Musicians # 4 - Dee Dee Ramone

This might seem an odd one as Dee Dee was famously known as one of the most primitive, inept musicians ever to tread the boards certainly at the outset of The Ramones. This post was sparked by a drunken conversation on Friday night with the biggest Ramones fan I know. He says that Dee Dee more than any other person encapsulates what it was like to be on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1975 in terms of raw, ragged, brave consciousness. He also surprised be by saying pretty much that Dee Dee was the heart and soul of The Ramones rather than Johnny or Joey. Wish I could recount more fully what Ian said but the drink you know. The drink. Here's to Dee Dee.

1. 53rd & 3rd

Great effect of a puffing train over the opening
