1. Please Kill Me - Probably my ultimate favourite. Scurrilous, though selective in terms of the bands and the message it wants to put over.
2. Rock Dreams - Always up there too. Gets to the heart of the matter.
3. England's Dreaming - I imagine it'll stay the definitive account of British Punk. Humourless. Savage always lacks that. But this was quite a serious matter.
4. Pop From The Beginning - Another Cohn. Fascinating to hear his take on the '60s stuff as it came out.
5. The Dark Stuff - Still the best Rock writer for me
6. The Heart Of Rock and Soul - An attempt to give an overview of the whole first four decades in terms of 45s. Clear manifesto but a great read nevertheless.
7. Head On - So much better in every respect than Morrissey's autobiography. Honest, educational and self-effacing.
8. Yeah Yeah Yeah - Another great stab at describing the whole thing.
9. Bomp! My current favourite. Great magazine and record label
10. The Ten Rules of Rock and Roll - Robert Forster,. A suave, elegant musician and journalist. A hero.
