Another in the occasional series, 'Fifties Rock and Roll Stars Attempt To Move With The Times And Enlist With The Love And Peace Generation'. This time Gene Vincent, from a series of sessions recorded in 1966 which was compiled as an album under the same name in 1992. Featuring Glen Campbell and David Gates as session musicians among others, it's a very conscious attempt to make a contemporary sounding record. It doesn't all convince but Born to be a Rolling Stone at least works for me. Almost Gene Vincent backed by The Byrds. Less successful, and almost bizarre in its attempt to reconstruct one of the original rockers as a peace and beads guy is Love is a Bird, posted below.
