Grand Prix was the moment when Teenage Fanclub proved themselves. And ensured they were here for the duration. I played this so many times for so many years on CD. The CD years !!!It makes me feel slightly forlorn for some reason. I may not listen to my CDs much ever again. I suspect I might need Grand Prix on Vinyl. It sounds like a vinyl record in the same way as Revolver, Younger Than Yesterday and #! Record do.
There are plenty of bands with pairs of sonwriters. Go Betweens, XTC, Husker Du. Teenage Fanclub likeThe Beatles have three. There's something about the way Blake, Love and McGinley dovetail on Grand Prix. The way the production, sequencing and sheer quality fall into place. Pole position to chquered flag.
