95. The Mice
'Man, look at Rome and Babylon...'
Probably the only political song on here. But certainly Power Pop. Cleveland band from the mid-eighties. Not too often you hear songs from American bands, certainly poppy ones like this about not being too keen on America.
94. The Olivia Tremor Control
'And when he can't speak from too much wine, you're always there with his line...'
As good a pop song as you could ever want to hear. All one minutes and fifty one seconds of it. From an Athens, Georgia based band, part of the Elephant 6 Collective and their landmark 1996 album Dusk at Cubist Castle.
93. Nervous Eaters
'When I talk to Loretta. She makes me feel like Number One ...'
And across to Boston. And back to 1980. The spirit of The J.Geils Band and Dr.Feelgood.
92. Urge Overkill
'I'm watching you and Fidel Castro in the sand. Kissing..'
Chicago. Early nineties. Should have been a huge hit.
91. Nikki & the Corvettes
'You're the one...' (to be frank there's not much else to quote)
Back again to 1980. Across state to Detroit, Pretty basic ingredients here from a band described by The Boston Phoenix as 'Power Pop perfection,' which 'split the difference between The Ronettes and The Ramones.'
