This is something I love about music. The strands you've neglected and not explored. Ben Folds Five are a case in point. I've never listened to a whole record until now. I have a Sunday morning free. The wind is rattling on my windows outside like it is the actual end of the world. I have time.
A record of theirs from 1999. I associate Ben Folds with a winding classical piano style and an emotive vocal style. It's initially a bit mewling for my tastes. I persevere. It's Billy Joel's quirky Indie nephew fresh from his Mozart lessons. . It has its moments. It makes me think of Scooter from The Muppets. It will never be quite my thing but I can understand why it appeals to others. There's some lovely stuff here.
