I gave this a listen when I woke up this morning. It took me back to the late Nineties when I got a lot of enjoyment from it. On CD of course. The second Supergrass album In It For The Money.
They were a lovely bunch of boys and this is a lovely set of well crafted and well played Pop Songs. Brit Pop was dying and they were making their own way.And it was nice to see.
The record was a throwback to an imaginary Sixties that probably never existed. Like so many of the records of the period. Supergrass were one of the few bands who made it seem like not an altogether bad idea.
Listening to this today felt rather like bumping into someone you hadn't met for twenty five years and didn't expect to see again. An acquaintance rather than a friend. And realise how much you got on with them and enjoyed their company. This is exuberant, excellent fun. A set of quite wonderful, old school songs.
