Albums of the Year # 80 Renovator's Delight - Bark All Night

Given how much great stuff is coming my way that originates from Brisbane of late it seems to have increasing claims to be Australia's second music city ahead of Sydney.

This, a fiercely strummed, melodic and reflective album by Renovator's Delight called Bark All Night is pure delight.

With a singer Madeleine Keinonin who comes across as a resigned Courtney Barnett and a set of songs that are independent, rather than Indie.

By this I mean that they understand the term to mean that it gives them a licence to be creative and original in the tradition of Patti Smith, Go- Betweens, The Triffids and Madder Rose. rather than generic and predictable. That songs in familiar packages can still be about life and death issues, and can and should move you deeply. This is terrific stuff.
