Song(s) of the Day # 3,608 Bory

Artists and bands write the reviews of their own records these days which is useful for the likes of me who write music blogs on a daily basis but can't always think of descriptions on their own when I'm getting to my eleventh year and have run out of adjectives to use.

So Bory's Who's a Good Boy. What does Bory's Spotify homepage say? 'Listening to a Bory song is like stepping into a universe all its own. A kaleidoscopic world journey filled to the brim with effortless hooks and get stuck inside your head for weeks on end.'

Will that do. I hope so. The great thing is that listening to  Who's a Good Boy actually lives up to that description. Bory is Brendan Ramirez an amaible young Hispanic American out of Portland, Oregon.who knows his Cure, his Dinosaur Jr. his Lemonheads and his Elliott Smith. Or works in their legacy without really being fully aware of it. Because he's young and full of the joys of youth. Something that can't be replicated.

All I can say is that Bory's unfortunate this only came to my attention on the 9th of December last year because otherwise I'd have put him in a chart because I really like this.. The record is as good as that. Listen to Alison's Starting to Happen. Listen to Bled White. Listen to this. It all fits.

  1. This is ace, Bruce! Really like it. Just seen that it was recorded/engineered by Mo Trooper. You can hear the power pop in there. Great stuff!
