1984 Singles # 29 Strawberry Switchblade

I loved Strawberry Switchblade but not as much as my sister Alison who bought their debut album. They were two astonushing looking Glasgow Gothy lassies. Dressed to the max who looked incredibly sweet but were probably anything but. Since Yesterday seemed to hang around the charts for weeks. Although the production seems dated the tune still hits home.

They didn't trouble the charts again but did make the cover of Smash Hits. An important achievement in those days. It's also worth looking out for their wonderful tune concerning agrophobia called Trees & Flowers for which the description haunting applies. They also recorded a neat version of BOC's Don't Fear The Reaper. A footnote. But one worth investigating for the drift into satanism if nothing else,
