500 Greatest Albums of the 1980s ... Ranked! # 492 Chris Isak - Heart Shaped World

A reminder of a bygone World. To a time when 'The King', that's Elvis to you, was still a living memory.'And it seemed important somehow. Chrs Isaak was one of David Lynch's Proteges. An Elvis impressionist essentially, though he threw Orbison in for good measure.

Heart Shaped World exemplified this retroism as well as he could. The guitars shimmered like we were in Sun Studies and Elvis was cutting his latest single and Johnny Cash would be popping round in the afternoon. Isaak had all the cool moves and right shapes and a good time was had by all. You almost forgot for a moment it was 1989.
