No Doubt are a difficult one to place in The Rock & Roll Pantheon, whatever that might be. They were very good at what they did but listening to Tragic Kingdom, their breakthrough album, it's difficut to make any kindd of passable case for its 'greatness'. It's a serviceable Pop / Rock record. Don't Speak has a definite, tangible quality. Most of this by comparison seems to be pretty much running on the spot.
