Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, who soon became OMD, and little wonder, appeared in the charts and on Top of the Pops during 1980. They weren't orthodox in a New Wave sense. Warm pullovers, nice shirts and in Andy McClusky they had a frontman who you could easily imagine inviting round for tea at your Grannie's. But Messages, their first hit was genuinely unsettling.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, who soon became OMD, and little wonder, appeared in the charts and on Top of the Pops during 1980. They weren't orthodox in a New Wave sense.
