If the new Baxter Dury album, I'm about to post a review of, could barely be more London, this, From Liberty Street, the second record by duo Mapache, could hardly be more California. All loose limbed strummed acoustic guitars and laidback vocals. It's an invitation to the sun.
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young seems an abiding influence though there might be a sprinkle of The Eagles and everly Brothers there too. It's an undemanding record but this stuff has a definite, abiding charm. You get the sense that The Dude would probably approve. Mapache are clearly enjoying themselves here so you might as well too.
