Albums of the Year # 46 Modern Kosmology - What Will You Grow Now

What Laetitia did next. Laetitia Sadier, once of Stereolab of course. One of the most interesting figures in Pop Music over the last thirty years. Hugely influential too.

Mainly for her work in Stereolab naturally. But her new project, Modern Kosmology, a collaboration with Brazil's Mombojo is definitely worthy of investigation. Fascinating stuff.

Latest album What Will You Grow Now?the secong collaboration,  is hardly a million miles from Stereolab. A vaguely utopian sounding record, like most of their's. 'Let's put our heads together. And start a new country up.' The opening lines of R.E.M.'s Cuyahoga. But it seems to apply.

Slightly slower than Stereolab generally were. It's a grower. Needs a couple of plays. But once you become accustomed and attuned to its rhythms and start to investigate its lyrics, you're going to return I'm sure if you like  Laetitia's thing. I know I will anyhow. It's a stew. And another fascinating one.
