Song of the Day # 3,001 Eades

The debut album Delusion Spree from Leeds band Eades, (hey that rhymes), is a deceptive record. Immediately seeming to working within the familiar Fall and Gang of Four Post Punk seam that so many bands appear to be chipping away at these days, it explores less familiar terrain too.

Sometimes coming across as one of those gutar driven bands (I thought Guadalcanal Diary for some reason), that came along in R.E.M's wake in the early Eighties. There's also something of Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever's freewheeling assault and annoyingly reminders of Kaiser Chiefs football chant approach.

I wasn't always sold but there was enough going on here to keep me listening. Perhaps not one I'd go back to due to some welcome reminders, mostly the Kaiser Chiefs thing, but certainly an interesting record at times.
