A strange mixture of AOR Eighties sounds and Dream Pop,. Ashbury Park, NJ band Sonic Blume seem to find the missing link between Flock of Seagulls and Beach Fossils that you never knew existed on the just released We're Drifting Further Apart Aren't We ?
Remarkably it works on the terms it sets out for itself. The record seems to be the story of the first important ' relationship going wrong' experience. It's full of wistful romantic songs, dedicated to that moment.
On third track Lovers, I found memories triggered of John Waites great existential moment Missing You and thinking maybe it wasn't as bad as it seemed at the time. We're Drifting Further Apart Aren't We ? makes unlikely things sound actually OK.
