A lot of fuss was made of this record when it came out last year. It was a collaboration between three highly rated songwriters; Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. They were people you needed to have an opinion about. The same had applied to David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash fifty years earlier.I like some of their songs. The self regard, grotesque egos and habits were less laudable. The same applies to both groups.
The record called erm 'The Record' was ceaselessly portentious without really appealling to me much. My natual instinct was to take it off and listen to Bridger's Stranger In The Alps agai instead. It's a record that spoke much more quietly and seemed to say a lot more.
