Song(s) of the Day # 3,409 Cathedral Bells

Out of Orlando, Florida, which immediately endears them to me, Cathedral Bells sound like you'd expect them to. if you think about their name for a bit. They are Shoegaze. That scene that was so monstrously reviled at its actually time but now seems to be everywhere.

Cathedral Bells go for the more obvious legacy of the movement. They head for the light on latest album . They go for all that was Poppy and radiant, rather than exploring the considerable undertow that was also there, the influence of The Cure and Joy Division which was definitely there.

That's all to the good. There's much here that's melodically drenched. It does perhaps become a bit unremarkable and disposable a few tracks in. But it will more than do as a Song and Album for the day even if it's not destined for one of my end of year lists.
