Quite definitely not for everyone, but in terms of pushing the boat out, Momus is definitely up there. There's more being said and attempted in single songs of his than many manage in entire careers. Still pouring out material three decades on, his website is here and speaks of someone utterly committed to a singular, dark, narcissistic comic vision. When he first appeared in the eighties and put out his first records on Creation he was so far from the script that everybody else was reading from that the reaction was general bemusement. But ridicule is nothing to be scared off. He's stuck, remarkably to his guns. Hats off to him!
