Two birds with one stone here. A supremely talented man. A quite heartbreaking story. Bell contributed every bit as Alex Chilton to the genius mix of ingredients that made up Big Star's first album # 1 Record. Bell was so disheartened by its complete commercial failure that he left the band. He made one solo album of his own before his premature death at the 'Rock Star' age of 27 in 1978. The title track of that album I am the Cosmos is one of the most distraught songs ever recorded. I'll give you this instead. Surely one of the most beautiful.
