The Psychedelic Furs first album is a great, neglected record. A suburban dream of being The Velvet Underground. It's impossible to talk about it at all without mentioning The Velvet Underground. Not all of it works, sometimes it drones and not in a good way, but there are a handful of truly exciting tracks. They are from Teddington in Middlesex which always endears them to me. I spent my mid to late teenage days there. This is where that sound comes from.
