The Last Song on the Record # 21 - New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies - Leave Me Alone

I remember listening to this record when it came out in 1983 at the house of a friend of mine, David Laurence, on a leafy suburban back street just off the Sheen Road in Richmond. He also had a thing about Joy Division I recall. Listening to these bands at that point gave you a sense of a dark side of life you had no real understanding of at that point in time. I certainly didn't anyway. Still, a quite wonderful record and there's plenty of stuff on there that's really very life affirming. Listen to Age of Consent for starters. The album in general is a soundtrack to them finally putting their old band to sleep.
