When I told the story of my trip up to Cumberland Arms to see En Attendant Ana a couple of weeks back, I said I'd return to Glaswegian support Sulka and write more, so here I am.
Distractions their album from earlier on this year is as heartening as their performance that evening was. It's not always easy for a young band frm Glasgow given that city's rich and illustrious musical history.
There's a natural tendency of the listener to hear Orange Juice, Belle & Sebastian or Teenage Fanclub the moment they step nstage and play a note. Sulka are refreshingly nuanced and engaged on their own journey.
Ten songs that plot their own paths. Thirty years of youthful wonder that acknowledge the great city and tradition theyy thrall without once falling in thrall to it.
