Five years back I was very taken by Karen Elson's album Double Roses. At that point ensconced on James Endeacott's ultra hip label 1965 it was an unpretentious album, more reminiscent of Stevie Nicks era Fleetwood Mac and laidback Country than might be expected from someone who was once Jack White's spouse.
Elson is back, with little fanfare and a new record Green. It's her first full album since Double Roses though she has released singles and EPs since and its another good record of mainstream, tasteful material that veers towards AOR and definitely feels like your listening to it on a Californian beach orby a Californian swimming pool.
These aren't connections which I object to and Elson is very good at what she does. There are a couple of songs which veer slightly too far into the bland for my liking and its possibly a couple of tracks short of being really noteworthy. Still, a cool listen which I'll come back to.
