Song(s) of the Day # 2,372 House Lords

Halfway 2020 album lists show music to be in reasonably rude health. I won't post mine but there's been plenty of great stuff from varied sources that I've really enjoyed thus far. The Quietus rundown is always interesting. If nothing else to remind you of how much there is around which you haven't even heard never mind heard of.

The Quietus represents the eternally cooler than thou kid at your school who drops names to make a statement to everyone else as much as to extol what he really likes. In some repects the list is slightly arbitrary, the common demonitaor being that it must be 'out there.'. Browsing through some of the records yesterday I found some of it quite unlistenable.

Nevertheless, there's plenty of interesting stuff out there. Like The Common Task, the latest album from Baltimore Noisniks House Lords. An essentially instrumental band, they hit and maintain good grooves. Pere Ubu seem to be some kind of starting point from where they come from. You may have run out of energy by the time the final, eighteen minute track kicks in, but there's much to enjoy here/
