And from that fertile scene to another, the first mention in this particular countdown of a representative of perhaps the most individualistic movement of all, New York's CBGB's in the mid-seventies. Oddball, geek and nerd, but always intensely artistic, The Artistics was their original name before they switched to Talking Heads. Those first four albums ares great statements about the huge strangeness of life, how we're pressured and obliged to fit in and conform and the simmering contradictory tensions bubbling all the time within us all.
