Not the happiest person by all accounts. But a supernova talent. Influenced by Bach. Sounded like the Karen Carpenter of the Underground. Made records not quite like anyone elses. Lived a quite extraordinary life and committed armed robberies of liquor stores and gas stations in her youth. Discovered heroin early and set her hand to sex work and fraud before deciding on a music career. Came to the attention of Crosby, Stills and Nash and signed to David Geffen's Asylum label . There's an intense purity to her work but I wouldn't recommend the lifestyle. She died of a drugs overdose . Her reputation will surely endure
