Cat Power to me feels like an artist who understands the times she lives in. The transition between Rock & Roll as a living process and road and Rock & Roll as a curation with a shared awareness of where this all comes from. A museum piece with matching his and her cocoa mugs and egg cups and slippers and Jack Daniels nightcups.
This is not intended as a shot across the bow by any means. The Greatest is pretty... err great. It has a measured sense of time, pace and place. It also has great taste. But you can't actually fault that iin itself n a record I'd suggest.
