Sonic Youth are very Post Modern in terms of their placement in the scheme of things. They always seemed conscious and slightly sensitive in this respect. They bhad become rather formulaic by Sonic Nurse (the most self consciously Rock & Roll name for album titles) but plenty love and honour formulas.
