Fontaines D,C, broke very large in 2024 with Romance in 2024, I liked it less than their previous records . That probably says more about me than Romance. It us a larger utterance of their previous gestalt. They stand by their guns and take more prisoners.
As I listen on a grim day in Newcastle I'm actually swept away by it. It makes me feel exactly as Bunnymen, The Cure and Joy Division did when I was 17. Brave, literary and rather majestic , The world is not always your friend but records like this make you feel like you're not alone.
