250 Albums- An Arbitrary Rumble Through My Record Collection # 67 The Feelies - The Good Earth

The Feelies second album. The Good Earth indeed. Midway through the Eighties and fast forwarding into their twenties. The ultimate suburban band . Their lives saved by Rock & Roll. Drawing on the well of Modern Lovers, Television, Talking Heads and most of all the second incarnation of The Velvet Underground. When Yule replaced Cale.

This is less urgent than The Boy Who. Relaxed and composed. Fluent. and R.E.M. The Chills, The Go Betweens, The Clean their fellow travellers.  Peter Buck was at the production desk and knew exactly where they'd come from and wanted to go. Into the open pains and prairies of America. It's a beautifully fluid and fluent album. A realised vision..  ^
