I've just been on a short roadtrip and as generally when I return home to my bachelor pad I'm in a cleaning mood thinking I must at least attempt to emulate the splendour of the houses I've seen on my travels. So there 's nothing for it. I'm tidying the fridge. Trust me, it's a dirty job. And erm I've got to do it...
But being who I am I need a soundtrack. And this morning that's the eponymous album from Bay Area's Moby Grape from 1967. First things first. That's a fine band name indicative of the spirit of the Psychedelic Dawn, that unrepeatable era in which it was made.
Superlative record too. Moby Grape had four fine guitarists, five songwriters, five vocalists and about' twelve distinct personalities'. This leads to the record sounding schizophrenic in addition to Psychedelic. It has any number of moods and paces.
I play it probably once a year, should play it more, but am now giving it a second play as I make my way to my half eleven online class. And my fridge is almost presentable. So all things considered, we're getting there.
