Song(s) of the Day # 2,786 Denny Doherty

A few days back I reviewed Michelle Phillips  only solo album Victim of Romance. This led me to fellow Mama & Papa Denny Doherty and his 1971 record Watcha Gonna Do.

It's another decent album. Not departing far from the Mamas & Papas template but definitely sounding rather Seventies. With a slight Country & Western tinge of the kind that was in vogue and full of decent and likeable tunes written or co-written by Doherty.

While no classic, it is a rather lovely record of the kind that Michael Nesmith was putting out at the time. Watcha Gonna Do barely charted but shouldn't altogether be forgotten.
