Like Cate le Bon and Steve Gunn lower down the list, Angel Olsen came out with a record this year that was not too dissimilar in tone and feel to her previous album. That doesn't in itself downplay the quality of the record, (My Woman). It's a very good one. The go to album every time you want an imaginary, vengeful girlfriend in the Bette Davis / Joan Crawford mold. It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it, and Olsen does it better than anybody else, though I suspect sometimes that it might all be a bit of a method exercise. Still, certainly in the Best Supporting Female Actress category in the award ceremony this year.
