Paris based duo Papooz are a bulwark against darkening nights and winter drawing in. Their first album Green Juice, released a few months ago, is a beaut, cocktail lounge pop frothiness that might remind you of why you had a soft spot for The Cardigans when they pulled off similar tricks back in the day.
The record is slightly uneven, I was rather alarmed to see the lead singer coming on like jazz phase Sting during Brother. But at its best, and I've tried to cherry pick the finest moments here, it's a splendid record that in addition to the Cardigans, might also recall Air, early Aztec Camera, the Marine Girls, Weekend and so forth. A light and lovely thing.
