Last Friday I went to see John Grant and quite wonderful it was too. I've already written to this effect on here. Coincidentally, the same evening Erasure were playing across town just round the corner from my gaff at the Academy. Coincidentally because Vince Clarke and his former group Yazoo in particular were a great influence on the sound of Grant's most recent album Pale Green Ghosts. Amongst the records he recommends this year is this, the soundtrack for I Dream of Wires, which he claims is 'Kraftwerk for the modern age'. The video for this pictures Clarke throughout and is six minutes well spent with headphones on.
