Coveted # 30 Buffalo Tom

Buffalo Tom chimed and clanged like a Paisley Underground band reborn throughout the early Nineties.Dream Syndicate. True West. True values They never had the personality or the pure firepower to make the front page but they lit the fire in the bellies of honest triers like me who appreciated the real stuff. Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Dinosaur Jr. .

There's a lot of heartbreak in Buffalo Tom songs. Hearts on sleeves. Men behaving emotionally. There's something valiant about the band. Emotionally courageous They never let up, or desert the banner. their songs sweat buckets and I imagine they did most nights onstage. They don't short change which is all you can ask from anyone.

Big Red Letter Day is their Valentine's Day album. The one where you get the sense that they drop to their knees and pop the big question.. I haven't heard this album for probably thirty years and the years just fall away. The way I feel hasn't changed.
