Bow Wow Wow were based on the original Adam & The Ants line up. Fronted by 13 year old Anabella Lwin who Malcolm McLaren chanced upon in a West Hampstead dry cleaners. Driven by drummer Dave Barbarossa's Burundi beat and initially featuring Boy George as a second vocalist, and spiced up by extremely suggestive lyrics, the whole package instigated a quite justified claim of sexual exploitation of minors from Lwin's mother. This was a Top Ten hit early in 1982 and was altogether great Pop Music regardless and arguably partially fuelled by its dodgy baggage.
