New York City's, A Place to Bury Strangers take you back to the Eighties. A time when young men like The Jesus & Mary Chain, Loop and Spacemen 3 dressed in black and tried to scare you, while looking back over their shoulders themselves at Suicide, The Cramps, Bauhaus, The Birthday Party and Gun Club, the pioneers of this sound in addition to the Nuggets Garage Punks of the Mid-Sixties and The Stooges most obviously.
New album See Through You has them donning leather trousers, rattling chains and throwing shapes to their hearts content. It's all so immediately derivative and mannered that you may find it rather difficult to get through the whole thing. It might appeal more to those who are new to this particular thrill.
