The end song to one of the best episodes of all. The one featuring a suicide towards the end of Series 5. Note perfect throughout in terms of light and shade. Don comes back from work after cutting down one of his colleagues found dead in his own office to find the always intensely dislikeable Glenn, a friend of his daughter's, sat on his couch. He insists on driving him back to his boarding college. On the way down in the lift Glenn asks him why everything in life turns out crappy no matter what. Don replies by asking him what it is he'd most like to do if he could do anything he wanted. We cut to Glenn at the wheel of the car on the drive back with Don occasionally giving a parental steering correction. A sure comment that life goes on, no matter what. As poignant as television drama can possibly get. And then we get The Lovin' Spoonful from their 1966 album Daydream. The scene is here.
