Song of the Day # 166 - Francois & the Atlas Mountains

Approaching the half-century, I find myself quite pleased when I come across new stuff that I like. Generally I'm afraid I stick with and broaden out the taste of stuff I liked by 1988. This last few months have been quite fruitful in listening to and appreciating stuff coming out now. Courtney Barnett, Cate Le Bon, Teleman, Fresh & Onlys and so on. Now I like this too. Heard on afternoon radio. It's got a lightness of touch and originality that I really liked. It floats. They're also called Francois & the Atlas Mountains which helps. Bands should make a proper effort with their names. The video is plain odd but is probably pushing a 'back to the land' agenda.

  1. Thanks for this, Bruce. It was new to me, and I liked it a lot.

  2. I like it a lot too. Apparently the main guy was based in Bristol before relocating to his native France. Their stuff looks worth exploring. Quite original.
