Whn I was young their were always Elvis films on BBC virtually every Saturday afternoon. Speedway, Kissing Cousins, (the worst, A blond Elvis). King Creaole. Elvis could actually act despite the naysayers. Just watch King Creole. Of course they were vehicles for the songs largely.And hackneyed plots which genrally unravelled towards cheesy, happy endings and afternoon tea,
We used to go on family holidaysand my mother who alwys had an incredible social conscuence used to invite people to come with us. There was a girlcalled Denice who was from a slightly trouble backgtound from Nottingham. but she was nice. I just remember her as being nice. You're not aware of what's going on as a child. Denise liked Elvis. And she liked Cliff.
